Manchester United football club are one of the world's biggest football clubs whose current squad is managed by Sir Alex Ferguson and includes Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez, who have helped to make Manchester United Football Club a fearsome force in the English Premier League. Formed in 1878 Manchester United Football Club have won the main English League seventeen times, the English F.A. Cup eleven times, the English League Cup twice, the European Cup or Champions League three times in 1968, 1999 and 2008 and the European Cup Winners Cup once. Manchester United Football Club's recent successes have come in winning the League Cup in 2009, the Premier League in 2008 and 2009 and the UEFA Champions League in 2008.
Manchester United Football Club have played their home matches at Old Trafford since 1910. Old Trafford is the ultimate football stadium, nicknamed 'the theatre of dreams' by Sir Bobby Charlton one of Manchester United Football Club's greatest players. In 1941, during world war II, Old Trafford was bombed and Manchester United were forced to play their home matches at Manchester City's original stadium, Maine Road, until the rebuilding of Old Trafford was complete in 1949. Recent improvements to Old Trafford have meant that the stadium now holds in excess of 76,000 people making it one of the most atmospheric and historic stadiums in the world.
